Potter’s Wheel Experience

This beginner-friendly workshop will guide you through the art of throwing on the potter's wheel.

Potter’s Wheel Experience is £50per person for a 1.5 hour guided lesson. This includes a demonstration and step by step through the stages of throwing a pot. This usually involves making between three and six pots. The best two are then left at the pottery to be fired and glazed. Georgie will be there to guide and help every step of the way.

We have four wheels, depending on your group size you may be alongside others. If you wanted to book privately and be guaranteed sole use this will be an extra charge as it is a private booking. We have this experience on Saturdays at 10:30am or 1:30pm.

We ask for 48 hours notice if you need to cancel, we can not refund unless we are able to fill the place.

Mini Wheel is a (much) smaller version of the potter’s wheel. It is available to hire for £30 for 1.5hrs per person and we have four available. There is a demonstration and then have your own opportunity to throw, the best are left to be fired.

Pots are then thoroughly dried out and fired twice in the kiln. It will be about four weeks before the pots are then ready to be collected or posted to you. This experience is for 14 + years.

Afternoon workshop 2:30 – 5:30pm

Potter’s Wheel

With guest potter Martin Stephens you will have demonstrations and be taken through the basic skills on the potter’s wheel where you will have an opportunity to throw your own pots. You can choose your favourite two for us to leave us to fire and glaze.

Hand built Mug

With our very own Georgie Bird, you will be taken stage by stage to hand build a mug that you add a handle, then decorate how you would like, add glazes then leave with us to fire in the kiln and collect with your other hand thrown pots created in the potter’s wheel workshop.

For lunch we can take pre-orders for a delicious lunch at Hips Café at the Littledean Tap in the village or you are welcome to bring your own. We will have hot and cold refreshments available throughout the day.
