Bird's Pottery has our ‘Good to Go’ certificate from Visit England. This verifies we have met Government guidelines set out to make your visit safe!

We’d like to say a massive thank you to all our loyal customers and followers for their continued support! Lockdown has been a very humbling experience, with some of our customers Lockdown creations even bringing tears to our eyes. We know that a lot of our customers came to our studio for art therapy and missed it very much when we closed our doors. As some of you will know we ran a delivery service during Lockdown, and we were overwhelmed by how popular this was. As well as giving our much-loved regulars their pottery fix, lockdown has allowed us to become more involved with our community. We have met so many wonderful people whilst out on our deliveries. Some of our customers will still be shielding for the next few months so we have decided to continue this service despite reopening on the 18th of July. 

Bird’s Pottery is a family business run from our home, we are taking extra precautions to ensure we keep our family and visitors safe and ask our customer to please do the same. So, although we are opening, we have some new procedures in place to ensure everyone’s safety.


We strongly advise our customers to book in advance to avoid disappointment. We will allow drop-ins, but you may be turned away if the pottery, yard and garden cannot accommodate you safely. ​When booking you will be asked for the names and contact details for everyone joining you in your group, this is to ensure that in the event of a customer becoming unwell, we can contact everyone who attended on that day. We encourage all customers to notify us if they start to show symptoms of Covid-19 as a duty of care to our staff and customers.

You can request where you would like to sit, whether that be the studio, courtyard, garden or NEW garden studio. Seating will be on a first come first served basis.

​You will be given a timeslot for your table booking, you must stick to this time. If you are early, please wait outside the courtyard gates and please stick to social distaining guidelines. If you are running late please make us aware, as you may be asked to re-book. We encourage non-painters to be limited due to lack of space.

What to expect when you arrive

Please ring the bell before entering the courtyard (the bell will be sterilised between every timeslot.) You will then be asked to confirm your name and timeslot, a member of staff (who will be wearing a mask or visor and gloves,) will then take everyone in your group’s temperature, with an infrared thermometer, if anyone within your group is showing signs of an above average temperature, your booking will be cancelled and you will be asked to come back when you and your group are feeling better.

You will then be escorted to your table Via a hand sanitisation station in the courtyard, all customers will be asked to use it.

We will be encouraging our customers to pre-order and prepay for their items to minimise contact, if you are unable to do this you are welcome to choose your items from the display within the pottery and then pay, but we kindly ask our customers not to touch anything. Once you have chosen your items, a member of staff will put everything onto a tray along with a pre-made paint-your-own kit and will escort you to your allocated table. (All kits have been sterilised between timeslots.)

If you choose to paint indoors or haven’t pre-paid and would like to view our stock, you will be asked to wear a mask. only 2 people may come into the pottery at a time to view while there are painters in the studio. 


If you need the toilet, please inform a member of staff so we can make sure we can sterilise everything accordingly.

When you have finished painting please leave your items on your allocated table and notify a member of staff that you are leaving so, we can sterilise your kit, table and gate.

takeaway and collections

Anyone wanting to collect their pottery or takeaway kits/dropping off their takeaway kits must only come to the pottery with a timeslot. You will be turned away if you have not arranged a time, this is to ensure we know how many people are within the pottery grounds to ensure we keep everyone safe.

These procedures will remain in place until official guidance changes, we hope that you will understand we are doing this in order to be able to reopen and keep everyone safe.
